Most health decisions are made long before anyone reaches a hospital.
Which is why a fair amount of what we do happens outside one — on a Saturday morning walk, in an antenatal class, at a free check-up for the people who spend their careers checking everyone else.

Abuja Health Walk & Aerobics
Every last Saturday of the month. Free. Show up, that is the entry requirement. The walk has its own page, with the date of the next one, a registration form and a way to bring somebody with you.
It started as a commemorative walk for the hospital's fortieth anniversary in February 2022 and simply kept going. Free health checks are done on the day.
What the walk actually is:
- Led by a trained volunteer, on a route that has been risk-assessed beforehand.
- About an hour, start to finish.
- A short warm-up, a brisk walk, then a cool-down at the end.
- A group, not a race. Nobody is timing you.
It is aimed squarely at people who are not currently active, anyone who has not exercised in a while and wants to start again, anyone recovering from illness or managing a long-term condition, and anyone who has been told by a health professional that they would benefit from moving more.
Thirty minutes of walking a day improves cardiovascular fitness, strengthens bone, reduces excess body fat and builds muscle endurance. It lowers the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and some cancers. Unlike almost every other form of exercise, it is free and needs no equipment and no training.
Antenatal classes
Free, online and in person, running alongside clinical antenatal visits. Partners are welcome and encouraged — most of what frightens people about birth is unfamiliarity, and that is fixable in an afternoon.
Classes cover pregnancy, birth options, breastfeeding and caring for a newborn. Not every inherited piece of advice about managing pregnancy and babies is correct, and working out which parts are is easier with someone who does this every day.

Caring for the Carers
A free health check for medical directors, doctors and nurses aged 50 and over — twelve tests, including ECG reviewed by a consultant cardiologist, chest X-ray, kidney function, cholesterol and blood sugar.
People who have spent a career looking after everyone else are reliably the worst at booking their own appointments. This exists to remove the excuse. Held at CardioCare Multispecialty Hospital and Limi Hospital Central Area, Abuja.
It runs on the last Friday of November, every year. Full test list on the health checks page.
Founder's Day & Month
Marked each October around the birthday of the late Dr. Lee Moses Iseko, born 10 October 1951, who founded Limi Hospital in Zaria in 1982. The month carries commemorative activities and discounts.Ask us on WhatsApp
